World Vision
The Ages have shifted from 2000 winters of "Returning Light" to a new vibrant age of renaissance and enlightenment due to the heroic actions of the Avatars of Jesstra. As a result of her triumph over the Emperor of Ryuken, freedom has been restored to Krindor. However an unusual religious and political situation has emerged that is unprecedented in the annals of Thandorian world history. After Jesstra's transformation into rainbow dragon form, she defeated Emperor Kajiki and the Ryukenese Empire fell into bloody civil war across the sea. The people of Krindor went into revolt to overthrow the oppressive Dragon Magi and their deadly warriors. Many of the occupying Ryukenese colonists, witnessing the injustice, fought on the side of good, raising arms against their corrupt brethren. Fighting alongside elves and goblinkind, the Ryukenese earned the respect of the people!
After the Dragon Magi were defeated and scattered, their 300-year oppression was ended in Krindor. A new light of hope shined in the eyes of the people and all races praised Jesstra the Avatar who united them and made the ultimate sacrifice to overcome the forces of evil. A new monotheistic religion emerged from her astrologically inspired mystery teachings on eternal being called the Avataric Faith. Many unique sects spread across the lands to uplift the people onto a new path of compassion and universal love. A new religion has emerged as predicted for the dawning of the philosophical Age of Meldranus, dubbed the "Age of the Grand Citadel."
After the revolution, the races of Krindor were united in peace and the High Champion courageously guided them to forge a new alliance as the first-ever large-scale continent-spanning republic called the URK, the United Realms of Krindor. A Constitution of Rights was drawn up banning slavery and committing nations to peace.
With the widespread advent of crystal wizardry, changes have accelerated in art, literature, music, magic, religion, and society. Even now as the various sects of the Avataric Faith eagerly spread the mystery teachings and enlightenment of Jesstra, new advances in magical research and technology are changing the lifestyles of millions. The Twelve Avatars left behind prophecies concerning a dark future for Krindor, but in this era of globalization and peace among old enemies, the many differing perspectives are focused on disseminating what is good, pure, and truthful. For too many centuries have the people suffered. And with the creation of the Grand Citadel Alliance, the central governing seat of power over the races of Krindor, kingdoms of happy citizens are enjoying their newfound freedom in this one-hundredth and ninety-first year since the shift of the Ages.
Many sects of the Avataric Faith have sprung to life, some in conflict with the old religions, while others are in harmony. And some have even blended the old with the new. As history has demonstrated, the gods and spiritual powers of one age become the ghosts and demons of the next. Nevertheless, with missionaries and explorers burning to experience and contact foreign cultures, adventure abounds on the horizons. Great tracts of Thandoria are unknown and in need of exploration and mapping. Diplomats are being dispatched by the URK to establish embassies across the sea. The circumnavigation of the world by Captain Keltmyr in 191 G.C. has inspired adventurers to sail across the high seas seeking opportunities and legends. The explorers are finding that the forgotten continent of Aklesora is not a "New Realm" after all but a very ancient place enshrouded in mystery with a history that runs as deep as Krindor's. Ancient secrets wait there to be unearthed by brave adventurers. In addition, with the rise of exploration, new trade routes are opening across the globe and with them, international opportunities for adventure in foreign lands like no other time in history.
The world is still plagued by the last vestiges of the Ryukenese Dragon Magi and their terrible creatures. A new generation of vengeful dragons wanders the globe. It is an age calling for battle proven heroes and powerful wizards. In the land of Keshzakra, the rising power of the cat beastmen threatens world peace. They were vassals to Ryuken during the occupation centuries. But now they have inherited their dark legacy and have struck a daring alliance with their old enemies the Saurian lizard folk. The tyrant of Keshzakra is bent on world conquest just like the Emperor of Ryuken, and must be stopped. Ominous rumors are floating in over the oceans concerning his growing arcane power.
Even so, the ancient orders of elven druids strive to maintain balance as Protectors of Thandoria and defenders of the Ancient Ways. Their life bond with the planet is so prevalent that when the world suffers, so do they. The druids can feel the world's pain in their bodies. The elves to this day center their entire society around the edicts of Druid Law whose codes are in harmony with nature.
And finally, in this age of enlightenment, the people are organizing to build colleges to educate their youth and train wizards and sages for a new generation. In Krindor, a League of Colleges is slowly forming supporting all types of organizations from Bardic Societies and Orders of Magi to Teams of Gladiators and Assemblies of Scholars. The renaissance is exploding in Krindor and starting to spread through trade across the globe. Truly, a new world is being born from the ashes of the old!
