Reverence

I will not die with blank pages yet to be filled.
My hands will shudder as my heart empties onto
that last terrifying page, engulfed in awe before the final darkness.

The vision of creation extending from unified being
demands that I open my heart to vast and unknown territories
which threaten to destroy who I am while simultaneously
holding me with a nourishment unequalled in its sustenance.

The cosmic tides breathe through the universe challenging me
to be true to the intense heat of passion and sense of belonging
in the world despite the emboldened fears that pound savagely
at the wooden gates blocking my ultimate transformation.

When I look into my child's eyes I see heaven stretching
to the ends of the earth; I feel such love as I bow my head
to his small bodily temple, smelling his smooth skin,
feeling his heartbeat as an extension of my own.

This heart is ablaze with inspiration and the smoldering courage
to follow it and flow into it, carried on whipping winds
through forgotten canyons toward secret places woven of untold imagination.

I've discovered, like faithful colonists sailing bravely across the
frightful sea, that I must explore my fears and shadows and
carry them beyond the threshold of eternity, allowing compassion
to resurrect them as pure love in an impossible New World.
