Listen carefully to what the sea has to say.
It will touch you; it will wet you
It will leave you drenched and dreaming.
It might even take you down into its fathomless depths
where the great silence is so quiet you can't
even hear eternity breathe.
And as you swim there, suspended in nourishing darkness,
all your fears will be magnified
to attack and eat away your core.
You will struggle to ascend and break the surface
but in writhing you will lose all sense of direction.
And at last you will have to drown in that misery.
But there will be a new glimmer of hope in the silent void
as the old conversation with eternity is ignited again.
From the ashes of your defeat, you will rise triumphant.
Then you will allow the melancholy to freeze you
when you meet it on the way, let the despair deepen you
like the craggy rocks who have been listening to the sea for ages.
Only this will keep your candle aflame,
will release you and unleash you,
so you can burst out of the sea unbound at last.
