Step 1:  Family Dynamics

Your first task in designing a new character is to determine your race. Click here for the possible player character races allowed.  As an infant your character starts with 1 point in each of the six abilities, Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma.  Record your race and initial ability scores on a sheet of paper.

Step 2:  Astrological Forces

Next you will determine the astrological forces present during your birth by rolling 1D12 three times to determine your Sun, Moon, and Rising Signs.  Even though Thandoria has two moons, it is the closer and larger moon of Tanistria that governs a character's soul essence.  The Sun shows the path of self-realization, and the Rising sign indicates your outer persona, what people immediately perceive.  To learn more about Thandorian astrology click here.

Each of your three signs grants you a bonus of either +1 or +2, depending on how well the aspects are.  Aspects describe the internal challenges and strengths within your character based on the configuration of the heavens.  Roll 1D6 for each of your three signs.  On a roll of 1-3 you get a +1 in two of the Abilities governed by the sign.  If you roll a 4-5, you get a +2 in one sign.  If you roll a 6, then you get a +1 in one ability, and a +2 in another.

After adding your astrological sign bonuses to your abilities, then roll D20 for each sign to determine whether you get either two traits or one flaw.  On a roll of 1-12 you get a pair of traits related to the sign.  On a roll of 13-20, you gain a flaw.  Click on the Trait or Flaw feat to discover its effects.  These can be overcome before you even start adventures!
